~My story so far ~
Jen is often found putting advanced education, new adventures, and opportunities to collaborate in the forefront. Advancing skills and techniques wherever she finds herself. 30 years in Beauty Biz and she still finds a passion working as a fine hair specialist and inventor of the lightest hair topper on the market she never stops trying to make hair options better for fine-haired clients. Certified in many methods of balayage, hand-sewn install methods, and crown topper certifications she has a knack for helping clients with hair loss and picking the best methods for happy scalps and healthy hair. She is Invisible Bead Extension certified and loves the attention IBE gives to scalp health. You can book an appointment or invite her to your salon for extension work. She is always open to new experiences and the opportunity to collaborate.
Early Years
In the 90’s Jennifer Living in L.A. graduated from Career Academy of Beauty under Mrs. Fretto an award-winning NY stylist. Living the L.A. 90’s lifestyle, working hair and makeup for bands, dancers, and club owners she pivoted and started apprenticing at Carlton Hair International assisting directly with Jean one of the South African owners. Learning from an amazing team of international stylists opened the world of hair to her and launched a career. Already in love with the music and beauty/fashion industries she continued education and studied, learning the art of hairdressing in the European style and editorial makeup, she learned from some very talented mentors “the art of how to care for guests” and the importance of making the hair salon experience amazing.
The Pivot
Loving outdoor sports, family, and good clean water and air she made the move to Northern California. First some time in San Francisco then to the rural Lost Sierra. Owning a salon/spa for 25 years with at one time 2 locations, was a full-time endeavor. Running a stylist training program and responsible for a dozen professionals working with her she learned the ins and outs of the beauty business from many angles. A challenge at times, but very good lessons learned. Selling the salon in 2018 she is now a freelance stylist based out of a private studio. Her experience and reputation led her to a full book by appointment only.
Current shenanigan
………….Besides my insane roller skating hobby
She has continued to expand her resume throughout her career by always attending educational classes or working under mentors. This has prepared her for her adult daydream of combining work and travel and to become a nomadic hairstylist. (had to give up professional roller girl) At the moment she spends 8 months of the year in the Lost Sierra but in the winter you will find her traveling and exploring the ever-evolving beauty business world with her husband a photographer. They are lucky enough to get to travel all over during the Fashion show months of January, February, and March. Italy is our favorite, (San Spirito to be exact) for small editorial jobs and some backstage work. She also has worked in Argentina, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, Prague, and Paris. She has been backstage with Fashion Week Studio®️ last date pre covid 2019 Paris fashion show Palace Vendome.
Number one question
“can I have extensions with thin hair and are they safe?”
You are not alone!
Many people suffer from thinning hair for many reasons.
Standing behind my chair I deal with this question every day. Yes, they are safe and can help your hair grow.
