Lost Sierra Chamber of Commerce Announces Closure of Brick-and-Mortar Visitor Center in Blairsden, CA to Focus on New Quincy HUB

Blairsden, CA – January 24, 2025 – After careful deliberation and a comprehensive financial review, the Lost Sierra Chamber of Commerce has made the difficult decision to close its brick-and-mortar Visitor Center in Blairsden, CA. This decision reflects the organization’s commitment to fiscal responsibility while embracing innovative solutions to support tourism and community engagement throughout Eastern Plumas County.

The Lost Sierra Visitor Center has been a cornerstone of the community for years, offering valuable information and resources to visitors exploring the scenic Lost Sierra region. However, maintaining the center has become unsustainable within the current annual budget of the Chamber of Commerce.

“This was not an easy decision, but it was a necessary one, made possible in part by the opening of the Quincy HUB,” said Tanya Funk, President of the Lost Sierra Chamber of Commerce. “We deeply value our role in promoting the natural beauty and vibrant communities of Eastern Plumas County, and our support and partnership with the new Quincy HUB allows us to adapt and innovate in ways that better align with our financial realities while continuing to serve visitors and local businesses effectively.”

As part of this evolution, the Chamber is thrilled to support and promote new initiatives in the region, including the Quincy HUB, a collaborative project spearheaded by the Quincy Chamber of Commerce and the Indian Valley Innovation Hub (IVIH). This newly established community hub is designed to enhance tourism, support local businesses, and foster innovation in Plumas County.

“The Quincy HUB, combined with the exceptional digital presence of our Visitor Center’s website, discoverthelostsierr.com, represents an exciting opportunity to reimagine how we serve visitors and our community,” said Clint Koble, Board Member, Lost Sierra Chamber of Commerce. “This state-of-the-art space will act as a central resource for information, networking, and showcasing everything our County has to offer, building on the strong foundation of our online tools and accomplishments.”

Looking forward, the Lost Sierra Chamber is exploring virtual solutions to continue engaging visitors and providing essential information about Eastern Plumas County. These digital tools will ensure that visitors can easily access resources to plan their trips and discover the unique experiences awaiting them in the Lost Sierra.

The Lost Sierra Chamber extends its gratitude to the community, volunteers, and partners who have supported the Blairsden Visitor Center over the years. The Chamber remains dedicated to its mission of promoting tourism and local businesses and looks forward to unveiling new strategies that reflect the changing needs of today’s travelers.
