Flanigan-Leavitt has been insuring individuals, families, and businesses in the region for over 130 years. With superior market access, and a dedicated, experienced and professional staff of insurance agents, there are few risk exposures that we are not prepared to handle for our customers.
History
Cooperative Businesses Make Sense
The Flanigan-Leavitt Insurance Agency has deep roots and a rich history of doing business in Northeast California. J.R. Murray opened the Murray Insurance Agency in Greenville, California, in 1882. His three sons; Vadney, Robert, and John worked in the family business with offices in Greenville, Susanville, and Quincy, California, until their retirement.
In the early 1980’s The Murray Agency partnered with a regional competitor named Plumas General Insurance with offices in Quincy, California. Von L. Edwards and his son Robert H Edwards were the principals of Plumas General Insurance. That agency had flourished in Plumas County since 1965. The new agency was a partnership named Murray & Edwards Insurance Agency. Michael and Valerie Flanigan joined Murray & Edwards in 1995, and in 2003 they partnered with the Leavitt Group and purchased Murray and Edwards.
Today, Flanigan-Leavitt Insurance Agency continues that rich history and operates offices in Quincy and Susanville, California, as well as Reno, Nevada. The generous support and loyalty of over 4,000 customers has allowed us to become part of the fine communities that we serve, and for that we are forever grateful. Our affiliation with Leavitt Group has benefited our agency and the customers we serve by bringing insurance buying choices – our competitive advantage. Business technology has enabled us to grow outside of our main market service area serving customers across the U.S.
Throughout the ownership changes, much of the staff has remained and the agency has continued to grow and operate profitably. We take great pride in the services we provide from a great team of professional agents. The transition to Flanigan-Leavitt has been exciting, and we look forward to serving our customers for another 130 years.
