About Us

We are Feather River Food Coop!

We have Plumas County’s largest selection of organically grown produce and we are committed to purchasing locally and regionally from small family farms. We offer an excellent variety of natural vitamins, herbs, and supplements, a complete selection of natural health and body care products, and over 300 varieties of bulk foods, herbs, and spices. The co-op also carries naturally raised poultry and meats free from antibiotics, growth hormones, and other chemicals as well as sustainably harvested sea foods. We have artisan breads, baked goods, and deli foods made fresh on site. Our staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

In our community, we show our support for local growers and businesses and other community education events.

Feather River Food Co-ops is open to the public and anyone can shop, but you may find you’d like to invest in the co-op and become a member-owner. Your share dollars (your investments) provide the co-op with working capital, and by becoming a member-owner, you’re showing your support for community-based business, sustainable agriculture, and consumer cooperation. Our membership and role in the community continues to grow as more and more people become aware of the benefits of a natural foods diet.

We welcome new members to join us.

Why Co-op?

Cooperative Businesses Make Sense

A co-op is owned by the people who use it. Feather River Food Co-op works to promote local ownership, economic democracy and environmentally friendly business practices.

Being a cooperative means that we operate our business according to principles that are shared by consumer-owned co-ops around the world.

The Seven Cooperative Principles:
  1. Voluntary and open membership
  2. Democratic member control
  3. Members’ economic participation
  4. Autonomy and independence
  5. Education, training, and information
  6. Cooperation among cooperatives
  7. Concern for community

Co-ops are formed by their members to provide needed goods or services at affordable prices and acceptable quality. Throughout the world, cooperatives are providing co-op members with financial services, utilities, consumer goods, affordable housing, and other services that would otherwise not be available to them.

Co-op owners elect representatives to serve on our Board of Directors and participate directly by voting, attending meetings and events, and offering regular feedback and suggestions. Everyone is welcome to shop at our co-ops. We hope you’ll choose to become an owner and join our community of cooperation. Cooperatives empower people to improve their quality of life and enhance their economic opportunities through self-help. Quincy Natural Foods Co-op and Feather River Food Co-op are dedicated to providing products and services that are beneficial to the health of our owners, our community and our environment.

Begun in 1978 as a buying club, known as Feather River Food Co-op. Over the years the name and location changed but the mission remained the same: bring affordable, healthy foods to the residents of Plumas County.
