Type: Part-time (21-30 hours per week)
Reports to: Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
Location: Lost Sierra region; hybrid on-site+remote work
Compensation: $19-$23 per hour + 10% commission on sponsorships and bar sales
Benefits: Mobile phone reimbursement ($35/month), 7 PTO days

As a 200+ member organization, we work to build leaders, engage members on important issues, and provide a platform through which the chamber and its members advocate for solutions that move our community forward.

Job Summary:
The Chamber Champion is responsible for membership development, event management, and ensuring the Chamber’s annual events and networking opportunities are successful. This position requires presence at each event and involves working closely with the Chamber’s Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

Membership Development and Maintenance:

  • Oversee membership outreach, including generating monthly invoices, processing payments, and providing follow-up for unpaid bills.
  • Maintain the list of existing and potential members, track payments, and provide monthly reports to the Board.
  • Engage with members regularly to ensure satisfaction and promote membership upgrades.
  • Develop targeted email campaigns and content to recruit new members.
  • Provide monthly membership and feedback reports to the Board; communicate regularly with members to ensure satisfaction with their membership.
  • Answer membership questions; resolve any membership complaints.
  • Track recruitment conversations with potential members to conversion; create emails, packets, and presentations that demonstrate Chamber Value Proposition.
  • Follow-up contacts with existing and potential new members via phone and in-person.
  • Manage communications for the Chamber and the Board.
  • Ensure reminder emails for expired members are sent; estimate 1-2 inbound member calls per week at 20-30 minutes; 1 to 4 random questions per week that lead to marketing requests; estimate 10-12 renewals per month.

Event Management:

  • Coordinate all event logistics, including location, catering, entertainment, signage, technical support, and transportation.
  • Oversee event budgets, ensuring revenue goals are met or exceeded.
  • Attend and facilitate meetings related to events.
  • Assist in the development of new events and programs to enhance the member experience.
  • Coordinate activities of vendors, Chamber staff, and volunteers.
  • Assist other Chamber staff members who produce events in their departments.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including obtaining insurance coverage, executing contracts with Board approval, seeking vendors to participate, managing site and vendor contracts, and coordinating booths and locations prior to and day of the event.
  • Promote the event in the community, including preparing and helping with the distribution of event materials needed such as emails, invitations, fliers, and tickets, and direct education to community businesses and residents.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and lead volunteers to support the event.
  • Coordinate event key stakeholders and participants, and post-event debrief activities, including surveys and any follow-up activities.

Sponsorship and Sales:

  • Execute event plans and sales for tickets, booths, tables, etc.
  • Ensure sponsorship agreements are fulfilled before, during, and after the event.
  • Research and assist in the recruitment of event sponsorships.
  • Recruit and support large sponsor donors.
  • Work with the Marketing and Events Subcommittee on strategies to recruit large donors.
  • Create tailored presentations with the donor’s branding to help donors visualize their involvement with the Chamber and our events.
  • Support large donors once established with their requests and encourage participation at Chamber events.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum requirement of a high school diploma; college degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in event or project coordination.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with CRM databases, Asana, Google Drive/Docs/Sheets, and MS Office.
  • Strong social media management and content creation skills.
  • Must have and maintain a dependable vehicle.
